Location of the Burj Al Arab

The Burj al Arab is unmistakable by its unique location alone: On an artificial island at Jumeirah Beach, it rises into the sky. The luxury hotel can only be reached by a bridge.

Burj Al Arab - Dubai's 7-Star Hotel

The luxury hotel Burj al Arab is the most luxurious hotel in the world and is also known as a 7-star hotel. Officially, though, it has only been awarded five stars. More stars are not possible according to the international classification of hotels. However, the hotel is far more luxurious than 5 stars require - which is why it is often referred to as a 7-star hotel.

With its total height of 321 meters, it is also one of the tallest hotel buildings in the world. The location off Dubai's coast and the unmistakable shape, which resembles a sail, make the hotel a real highlight. It is located on an artificial island about 280 m away from the coast and can be reached from the mainland via a curved bridge. The hotel is operated by the Jumeirah Group, which also manages the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Emirates Tower.

Construction & Origin of the Burj al Arab

The name Burj al Arab means "Tower of the Arabs". The luxury hotel was built between 1994 and 1999, of which the first two years were spent making the artificial island resilient enough to support the construction. The hotel was designed by Tom Wright, an employee of Atkins Middle East, according to the client's wishes. The owner, Sheikh Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum, had the hotel of superlatives cost an estimated 1.5 billion US dollars. The sail-like architecture is intended to recall, among other things, Dubai's past as a maritime trading center. The initial plan was to build the hotel directly on the coast, but due to the shadow the hotel would cast on the beach, it was decided to build it on an artificial island. In order to keep the hotel as stable as possible, the supporting poles of the building go down as much as 45 meters under the sea bed.

A total of 70,000 cubic meters of concrete, more than 40,000 square meters of glass, 9,000 tons of steel, 13,000 cubic meters of Carrara marble, 12,000 cubic meters of Brazilian granite, a good 30,000 cubic meters of Italian mosaic and 8,000 square meters of gold leaf were processed for the actual building.

Facilities & Services of the Burj al Arab

The luxury hotel offers a wide range of facilities and services. As a guest of the Burj al Arab, you will be taken care of in the best possible way at all times and no wish will be left unfulfilled.

A Helipad of Superlatives

Hotel guests can use their helicopter to land on the Burj al Arabs' own helicopter landing pad, which is located on the 28th floor to the countryside. A few years ago, the helipad was converted into a tennis court: In 2005, tennis star Andre Agassi played a match with Roger Federer, who was the world number one at the time. Couples watch out: The magnificent Hotel Burj al Arab offers you the opportunity to pop the question at a height of 212 meters on the helicopter landing pad - here you are guaranteed to start with good views!

Culinary Variety and Perfection

The luxury hotel Burj al Arab invites you to dine at 10 unique restaurants, cafés, and bars. The restaurant Al Muntaha is located on the 27th floor, 200 m above sea level. Due to its excellent location, it offers a breathtaking view of the Persian Gulf as well as the Palm Jumeirah. If one visits the restaurant Al Mahara, a submarine trip is simulated in the elevator there. Inside this restaurant, there is a gigantic seawater aquarium - the guests dine at the tables arranged around the aquarium. The Skyview Bar, also on the 27th floor, is the perfect place to enjoy a drink over the rooftops of Dubai! You'll also be enchanted by original restaurants and bars such as Al Iwan, Bab Al Yam, Junsui or Sahn Eddar and many more.

Lobby and Room of Burj Al Arab

The lobby of the luxury hotel is decorated with impressive water features and gigantic aquariums. Each floor has its own reception to provide guests with the best possible service. The exclusive hotel has over 200 suites, all offering breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf or Dubai City. The suites range in size from 169 m² to 780 m² and are equipped with a living room with dining table, bar, office - where check-in can also be done - dressing room, bedroom with king-size bed and bathroom with whirlpool. They offer the perfect basis to feel like in 1001 nights. Naturally, the suites are equipped with the latest technology and Internet access.

In addition, guests are offered services such as private butler service, chauffeur-driven transfers and car rental. Guests also get their money's worth by visiting the famous Wild Wadi Water Park, the Assawan Fitness Room or Sinbad's Kids Club.

Wellness and Bathing Facilities in Burj Al Arab

The luxurious pool and spa area "Assawan Spa and Health Club" is located on the 18th floor of the hotel. This health and fitness facility is named after a stone known for its healing and cleansing properties. The Burj al Arab offers a total of five swimming pools, massage, cosmetic and therapy rooms and a private beach - pure luxury! From the indoor pool, you can enjoy stunning views of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Wild Wadi Water Park and The World artificial island group.

Burj Al Arab Terrace: The New Outdoor Pool Facility

Furthermore, the Burj al Arab has a 10,000 square meter outdoor area, the Burj al Arab Terrace. The terrace is about 100 meters long and stretches over the turquoise blue Gulf. The extension has both a freshwater and a saltwater pool. The freshwater pool has a size of over 600 square meters. In the middle of the pool there is a floating bar. The even larger infinity pool is filled with saltwater and seems to merge seamlessly into the Arabian Gulf. Relaxation is also provided by 400 sun loungers and some Jacuzzis. Guests also have air-conditioned cabanas at their disposal. If you're hungry or need a cold drink, there is a restaurant with Californian Fusion cuisine and a bar on the Burj Al Arab Terrace.
